COMMUNITY SERVICE
CHARITABLE DONATIONS
DONATION OF FUNDS
Here is a list of events we have helped out with by members volunteering their time.
Special Olympics - We have helped the local Special Olympics every year since 1990 as huggers and/or activity coordinators.
Highway Clean-up - We adopted a two mile stretch of road on North George Street near Emigsville, and have helped to keep it clean since 1991.
Habitat for Humanity - In 1997 and 1998, some members donated their time by helping to build houses for the less fortunate.
Over the years, we have held many club functions specifically to raise money for local charities and national causes as well.
We have also participated in numerous events organized by others to help raise funds for their charities.
So far, we have donated approximately $27,000!
Some notable events are:
A softball marathon we organized to benefit the Children’s Home of York and Family Child Resources;
Bowling events to help Cystic Fibrosis and Bowl for Kids Sake;
Donations to San Diego Wild Fire Relief and the NYC / WTC relief,
As well as yearly donations to Salvation Army to help the needy over the holidays.
Our most recent effort was also our most successful - Shave Uncle Wheezie's head for Make-A-Wish. Our club performs other acts of kindness besides monetary donations.
Collect items for local charities, the SPCA, Toys for Tots, military personnel and more.
We have an annual food drive which has roots back to starting in 1992. Members donate canned goods which are distributed to the needy over the holidays!
